Career Progression

How it started and how it’s going: Alex Allen

From Campus Brand Manager to landing her dream marketing role in only a few years, Alex Allen tells us how networking and making the most of opportunities helped pave the way to success.

Beginning her career as a student intern in Daily Rental, Brand Marketing Specialist for Europe, Alex Allen, has turned her hand to many different areas of the business since joining Enterprise in 2015.

“I started a 12-month Daily Rental internship in the Southwest on a university placement year,” Alex says. “It was a great chance to learn the business at the same time as achieving a management qualification. I scored 98%, which I was told was the highest ever score. It was a really proud moment.

“I knew that I wanted to stay connected with the business when I returned to my studies for my final year. I was given the opportunity to work flexibly one day a week as a Management Assistant at the branch in Fareham so I could work and keep up my studies.

“I also took on the role as a Campus Brand Manager. It involved helping at careers fairs and giving shout-outs to raise the Enterprise profile among students as a great place to work. When I was shortlisted for Campus Brand Manager of the Year, I travel to the European Corporate Office in Egham for the day. It opened my eyes to the different corporate opportunities at Enterprise and after reaching out to several contacts around the business, I was invited to come back and spend the day with Marketing.

“I was really excited when the role of Marketing Coordinator for Enterprise Car Club came up just after I graduated. I took the plunge, moved closer to London, and started the role in September 2017. It was exciting to be part of something that was new to the business and rapidly growing. I was promoted to Marketing Specialist within two years and in 2020 I joined the Brand Team as Brand Marketing Specialist, and my remit is now Europe-wide.

"It was a great chance to learn the business at the same time as achieving a management qualification. I scored 98%, which I was told was the highest ever score. It was a really proud moment"

“It’s been a fantastic journey so far and I’m always excited to see what’s next. My advice to anyone joining the business would be to reach out to colleagues, network and shadow areas of the business that interest you as you never know where opportunities may lead.”
