Christeen's story: promotions, relocations and great performance

Area manager Christeen Mendis has been promoted several times within a few years before now becoming the Area Manager for Central London. Christeen talks to DRIVE about her career at Enterprise Mobility and seizing every opportunity to push her full potential.

"Life changing, rewarding, challenging: my Enterprise Mobility career in a few word"

Tell us about your Enterprise Mobility career so far?

“When I started my journey with Enterprise Mobility, it was a traditional career path starting as a Management Trainee in London Heathrow Airport. I had three promotions and lot of opportunities to relocate around the UK, improving each branch I took charge of. In my very first year with the company, I was promoted to Assistant Manager in Heathrow. After a powerful performance I was promoted to Hereford as Branch Manager. After further impressive performance, I relocated to Colchester to manage that store. Lastly, I relocated again to South London to manage South Croydon as Branch Manager. Then I was promoted to Area Manager of North Essex in 2019, then South London and now becoming Area Manager of Central London.”

"At work I have so many ‘best friends’: my support systems"

Who is your best friend at work? What impact did they have on your career?

“At work I have so many ‘best friends’: my support systems. From my senior managers to my peers, this support system has got me to this stage in my career. They have seen the highs with me and picked me up from the lows. My peers and fellow Area Managers really help support me. We all face different challenges and share ideas as to overcome them. After a long day, those chats really help put the days challenges behind us and be pumped to face next day.”

What is something people might not know about being an Area Manager?

“As well as being strategic with the business and how it is run, most of my role is about understanding people. From customers, business partners to employees, my role is to get the best from everyone. Learning how humans behave, react, and learn has really helped me in developing a strong culture of leadership at all levels in my business.”

What is your proudest moment at Enterprise Mobility?

I feel proud watching people I hired at trainee level go up to managerial levels within the company and knowing you are having a huge effect on people’s lives and changing them for the better.
