Ensuring the diversity message reaches our customers, partners and suppliers is as important as engaging Enterprise employees.
This is a vital part of the mission for the Enterprising Women board who masterminded this year’s In Pursuit of Excellence in London on 12 October. Some 200 senior people from some of the UK’s largest organisations across many industry sectors spent the day discussing the impact and imperative of diversity.
In Pursuit of Excellence featured presentations from Sandra Kerr, head of the BITC’s Race for Opportunity programme, as well as by Nigel Owens, one of the world’s top rugby referees who is also famous for championing gay rights.
Panel discussions on ‘difficult conversations’ and ‘inclusive leadership’ engaged the audience in considering what more each person can do to promote diversity and inclusion within their companies and their work.
The event was full of inspiring opinions and sometimes heart-breaking personal stories from individuals who had experienced the effects of exclusion. It prompted lively Twitter discussion – visit #InPursuit2016 to learn more about the different points of view.
Enterprising Women is a team of seven that includes men and women chaired by Senior Strategic Account Manager, Jo Vickers. Based at EU99, much of the team’s energies and resources are directed beyond the company, through events with stakeholders such as universities, business partners and industry associations as well as customers.
