Day in the life of Jemma Dixon

Having been promoted three and a half years ago before the birth of her daughter Bella, Jemma Dixon admits juggling the role of area manager with family life can leave her “feeling a bit torn”.
As a role model for the employees in seven branches across South East London and North and West Kent, Jemma structures her day to ensure she keeps her evenings free for her husband, daughter – dog and nine guinea pigs.
5:30 Get ready: feed the dog, feed the guinea-pigs, have a cup of tea.
6:30 - 7:00 Either leave for work (6.30) or drop off at nursery (7.00).
7.30 - 7.45 Arrive at a branch ready to go. Observe the branch or assistant manager leading the morning meeting. I see how they’re engaging the team, delegating,
communicating priorities. I love watching the team energy that kicks off the day!
8:00 - 8:45 Update time – check each branch’s performance for the previous day so I can feedback, praise, support each of the managers.
AM Rest of the morning I’m in the branch, supporting and advising.
PM I’m off to another branch for the afternoon. Or I update my group rental manager or I meet customers or I’m at a corporate or recruitment event.
5:30 Closing time call with my branches to check in on their day.
6:00 Head home to Bella – on time.
6:30 Bath time, story time, mummy time – then the battle for bed.
7:00 Bella’s in bed! We feed the dog, the guinea pigs, ourselves, sort out the house. Sometimes I catch up on work emails. Mostly no need!
9:00 Off to bed with the laptop for my late night retail therapy.
